We want to start from a place of active hope: we believe it is possible to build a world where everyone, and every natural thing, belongs. This is our vision.

In Building Belonging, we believe we can create an “us” without a “them”—an “us” that affirms all life, including non-human life.

Research now shows what many of us could already feel: that humans are social beings, fundamentally wired to choose care, cooperation, and collaboration. At our cores, people want collective wellbeing—a world where everyone belongs. 

But we’re also deeply influenced by our context. And current systems of domination and oppression have interrupted ways of knowing, being, and doing that create collective wellbeing.

We are currently in an era of intersecting crises: climate collapse, forced migration, rising authoritarianism, deepening inequality. This is a moment of both daunting challenges and unprecedented opportunity. How we respond is everything.
